1st January 2014 – ski **** Les Arc, Peisey, Vallandry

It was a little cloudy in Bourg St. Maurice this morning and we even had a few flakes of snow but by 10.30 it was bright and sunny again so we decided to go up on the funicular and have our usual four hours We were lucky today because the lady on the gate at the funicular let us through a side gate so our 4 hour lift pass didn’t start until we got up to Arc 1600 and went through the turnstile for the Mont Blanc lift We skied down the Mont blanc run which was very nice and then went over to our favourite Peisey Vallandry slopes. We went down the black again to get to our perfect spot for lunch overlooking the beautiful Vanoise national park. There was no-one about for the early part of our time on the slopes – the morning after the night before we reckoned but when we were returning to Arc 1600 there were a lot of people about and it was quite busy on the slopes. We got back to the funicular and were let through the barrier again even though our time had run out. Back to the apartment for a shower and rest. Garrod Hill – Simon’s brother is coming in on the train tonight having flown into Lyon earlier today and will stay with Simon and Natasha for the rest of the week. Neil skied with the boys this morning then came back to go for a walk in town with Linda. We think we will have a day off tomorrow. The weather isn’t supposed to be so nice and we need a rest! Think we will go for a walk in the Vanoise park.
